Lisa Nikolau is a freelance journalist in Madrid, Spain, specializing in human rights, global health, foreign aid and development.
For the last three years, she has been a full-time correspondent for Seattle-based Humanosphere.org, run by Tom Paulson. In this role she was one of the first U.S. reporters to cover the spread of the Zika virus in Brazil (and later throughout Latin America and the Caribbean). She has covered women’s rights, reproductive rights, indigenous rights, development and inequality in Latin America and worldwide.
Her work has appeared on Humanosphere, the Seattle Globalist, YouTravel and the Examiner, among other news organizations.
